As they tuned into the nightly news, Brenda and her husband Phil were left dumbstruck after the latest breakdown of world events at the UN. The General Assembly met this week in New York where wolrd leaders discussed various issues, from on going conflicts, to tariffs that have threatened the global economy and trading systems, and escalator functionality.
As they prepared for the latest bootlicking pundit to let them know what this really means, a funny thing happened.
“They were talking about the trade deficit and how we're getting ripped off by all thes other countries, when this fella came on and gave an unbiased take of both sides of the argument, then just broke it down in a straight-forward manner. No finger pointing, no accusations, didn't even so much as resort to namecalling. Just a bunch of facts and well reasoned points based on empirical evidence. He didn’t even raise his voice." This last bit somwhat of sticking point as she noted, "I mean, how am we supposed to know what to think it they can bother to get worked up about it?”
Phil, still struggling to come to grips with this, as these issue often cause a headache even the current administration would recommend Tylenol for, esposued his take. "What gets me is when they started testing him, he seemed to have an answer for everthing, even the fact chekers. Arent those folks supposed to point out what the administration has shown them to be?"
When asked if this is what they thought news coverage should more consistently be like, there was a moments pause. "I guess, though I don't imagine it'll solve anything. I mean, who'd tune in?"
