With the new year settling in, and resolutions falling faster than the snow, gym owners everywhere are preparing for in the inevitable influx of cancellations.

Whether it's scheduling, or just the craziness of well, everything, many find it hard to even make the time to make time to work out. While that's certainly understable, it's also very much not their problem. Mike Vance opperates a fitness centre in Halifax and explained it as such. "We understand folks are excited to get back into shape after the holidays, and we make every effort to help, but these aren't tariffs, you can't just arbitrarily negotiate whatever you think you'd like."

Patrons posit another point of view, suggesting that if they're going to be charged for a service they don't use it's not their fault. This of course has nothing to do with their waning interesting and slapping the snooze button liked it owed them money, rather the principle of the thing. "If you're going to be held accountable for making resolutions, then you should also be able to adjust them accordingly." When one is only accountable to themselves this is of course flawless logic.

"It's got nothing to do with convneience." notes Mike, "Our hours are more flexiable than even our most gifted atheltes." So as we head towards February, and the numbers start to dwindle, remember, it's only a broken promise if sign up in the first place.
